Do I Need Models?

If the deliverable is a brokerage listing — exterior running shots, full interior coverage, detail shots — models generally aren't necessary. The goal there is an accurate, well-lit record of the vessel, and empty rooms photograph more clearly than occupied ones.

If the deliverable is charter marketing, the calculation changes. A charter guest isn't buying a room count, they're buying a week — and a gallery with no people in it asks them to imagine the experience entirely on their own. Professional models, styled and directed for the specific Experiences being shot (a couples escape, a family lifestyle sequence, a sunset cocktail scene) do that imagining for them.

Our yacht model casting and coordination service can help select the right couples, families or lifestyle group for the vessel and production brief.

Owners and family are a legitimate alternative to professional models, and often the better choice for management companies or repeat owners who want the imagery to feel authentically theirs rather than aspirational-generic. The tradeoff is direction time — professional models are used to being posed and redirected quickly; first-time subjects usually need more takes and more specific guidance to look natural rather than posed.

Our casting guidance depends on the yachts's size and the Experiences planned — a couples-escape sequence needs one pair, a family-lifestyle sequence needs a full family group, a crew-service sequence needs the actual crew. We'll help you decide how many models a given shoot day actually calls for as part of planning, rather than defaulting to a fixed number regardless of the brief.
