Engine Room & Crew Areas
- Time required
- 45–90 minutes, ideally before engines start or the yacht departs
A focused photography and film sequence documenting the spaces that keep the yacht running, from the engine room and technical details to the crew mess and working areas.
Why it’s in the plan
These spaces reveal the yacht's engineering standards, maintenance, safety culture and day-to-day operation. Thoughtful coverage gives owners, buyers and management teams a more complete and credible picture of the vessel while also recognising the crew environment behind the guest experience.
What you’ll get
- Wide establishing views of the engine room and principal technical spaces
- Detailed photographs of machinery, control systems and engineering finishes
- Crew mess, pantry, laundry and working-area coverage where access allows
- Optional candid crew-at-work photographs coordinated around operations
Crew requirements
Chief engineer or designated crew escort; safe access to approved technical and crew spaces; practical lights on; personal paperwork and sensitive information removed from view.

Recommended sequence
We normally begin in the engine room before startup, when the space is cooler, quieter and free from vibration. From there, we move through the crew mess and approved working areas before regular operations begin. The sequence is confirmed with the captain or chief engineer so photography never interrupts safety-critical work.
Questions
Planning this experience, answered
Why photograph the engine room before the engines start?
The space is cooler, quieter and safer to work in before startup. It also allows cleaner photographs without vibration while keeping the session out of the crew's operational window.
What should the crew prepare in advance?
Please confirm access with the chief engineer, turn on practical lighting, remove loose personal items and hide paperwork, screens or labels containing sensitive information. Required PPE and vessel safety rules always take priority.
Can crew members appear in the photographs?
Yes. We can include natural, working portraits where appropriate, or photograph the spaces without people. The captain or department head can confirm the preferred approach before we begin.
How long does this coverage take?
Most yachts require 45 to 90 minutes. The exact time depends on vessel size, the number of approved spaces and whether candid crew-at-work photographs are included.
