Shooting in Nassau, Bahamas
Nassau is one of the most practical starting points for yacht photography and video in the Bahamas. When we take an early flight from Miami, we can often meet the yacht and be onboard by approximately 11 a.m., subject to airline schedules, customs, transportation and equipment handling. Bay Street Marina is our preferred meeting point for many Nassau productions. From there, the yacht can move toward Rose Island, Sandy Cay, Green Cay and surrounding waters, where clearer water, lower shorelines and nearby anchorages provide stronger backgrounds for running shots, aerial imagery and charter-lifestyle scenes. The exact route depends on the yacht’s draft, weather, tide and the activities included in the campaign. Some locations are better for running shots, while others are more suitable for anchoring, swimming, tenders and water toys. For larger yachts already positioned on the southwestern side of New Providence, we may meet the vessel around Albany. This can simplify boarding, but we generally prefer the Rose Island side for lifestyle production. Waters near Albany can be more exposed, and wave conditions may make it difficult to launch tenders, water toys or safely create relaxed at-anchor scenes.
Best for
- Luxury charter marketing
- Efficient productions from Miami
- Turquoise-water yacht photography
- Aerial and running-shot imagery
- Island and water-toy lifestyle content
- Large-yacht productions
Advantages
Convenient access from Miami
An early flight from Miami can often place our production team onboard by late morning. This makes Nassau one of the most efficient Bahamian destinations for productions that need Caribbean-style water without a full day of travel.
Bay Street Marina provides an efficient base
Bay Street Marina offers a practical meeting point with convenient access to Nassau Harbour and the waters surrounding Rose Island. The team can board, organize equipment and begin moving toward the selected shooting locations.
Several locations within a short cruising area
Rose Island, Sandy Cay, Green Cay and nearby waters provide a useful range of anchorages, running-shot areas and low-island backgrounds without requiring the longer passages associated with the outer Exumas.
Clearer water beyond Nassau Harbour
Once the yacht moves away from the harbour and developed shoreline, surrounding shallows can provide the turquoise color associated with Bahamian yacht photography. The strongest results depend on sunlight, tide and weather.
Charter-lifestyle production opportunities
Suitable anchorages can support swimming, tenders, paddleboards, water toys, dining and relaxed guest scenes. This allows us to create a more complete charter campaign than a marina-only production.
Alternative access through Albany
For larger yachts already anchored or berthed near Albany, the production team can meet the vessel on the southwestern side of New Providence rather than requiring it to reposition before boarding.
Considerations
Flight and transfer timing must remain flexible
Although an early Miami departure can often place us onboard by approximately 11 a.m., airline schedules, customs, ground transportation and equipment handling may affect the start time. Critical scenes should not depend entirely on the arrival day.
Yacht draft affects the route
Some of the most attractive sandbars and turquoise-water locations are shallow. The captain must confirm safe access, anchoring depth and whether tenders will be required for particular scenes.
The Albany side can experience difficult conditions
Waters on the southwestern side of New Providence can be more exposed to wind and swell. These conditions may limit anchoring, tender operations and the safe use of water toys, even when boarding at Albany is convenient.
Drone operations require advance authorization
Commercial drone operations in the Bahamas require written authorization. Proposed dates, coordinates, flight heights, equipment and operating areas should be confirmed before the production itinerary is finalized.
Harbour traffic affects timing
Nassau Harbour can be busy with commercial vessels, cruise ships, ferries and recreational traffic. Running-shot routes and aerial operations must be coordinated around safe navigation and local conditions.
Sun and weather affect the final look
Cloud cover, wind and sea conditions can change the appearance of the water and the suitability of an anchorage. The schedule should preserve flexibility for the strongest light and safest operating window.
Too many locations reduce shooting time
Rose Island, Sandy Cay, Green Cay and Albany should not all be treated as quick stops in one production day. The itinerary should prioritize the locations that best support the campaign rather than losing valuable light to unnecessary repositioning.
Our recommendation
Choose Nassau when convenient travel from Miami, established marina access and nearby turquoise-water locations are priorities. For most charter-lifestyle campaigns, we prefer meeting the yacht at Bay Street Marina and working toward Rose Island, Sandy Cay, Green Cay or surrounding anchorages. Albany can be a practical meeting point for a large yacht already positioned on that side of New Providence, but it is not always our preferred lifestyle-production area. More exposed conditions can make anchoring, tenders and water-toy scenes difficult. A focused sales or marketing shoot may be completed from one base, while a complete charter-lifestyle campaign benefits from additional time for changing light, weather and locations. Share the yacht’s draft and itinerary with us before confirming the route so we can recommend the strongest combination of running shots, aerials, anchorages and guest activities.
Questions
Shooting in Nassau, Bahamas, answered
How quickly can your production team reach a yacht in Nassau?
With an early flight from Miami, we can often meet the yacht and be onboard by approximately 11 a.m. Airline schedules, customs, transportation and equipment handling can affect the exact start time.
Where do you normally meet yachts in Nassau?
Bay Street Marina is our preferred meeting point for many productions because it provides practical access to Nassau Harbour, Rose Island, Sandy Cay, Green Cay and nearby shooting locations.
Which locations near Nassau are best for yacht photography?
Rose Island, Sandy Cay, Green Cay and surrounding waters can provide turquoise water, low-island backgrounds and suitable areas for running shots and lifestyle imagery. The best route depends on weather, tide and yacht draft.
Can you meet a large yacht at Albany?
Yes. Albany can be a practical meeting point when a large yacht is already berthed or anchored on that side of New Providence. However, the surrounding waters can be more exposed and may not be ideal for every lifestyle scene.
Can water toys be photographed near Nassau?
Yes, when the selected anchorage, weather, yacht policies and local requirements permit them. We generally prefer more protected locations where tenders and water toys can be launched and operated safely.
Can you fly a drone during a Nassau yacht shoot?
Commercial drone work requires advance authorization from the Civil Aviation Authority Bahamas. Airport airspace, harbour traffic, coordinates and proposed flight areas must be reviewed before filming.
Is Nassau or the Exumas better for a yacht production?
Nassau offers faster access, established marinas and efficient logistics. The Exumas generally provide more secluded anchorages and a broader range of remote turquoise-water settings. The better choice depends on the campaign and available production time.
